Redesign your home – Like I did

Redesign your home – Like I did

Earlier on, I used to live in Edmonton but have recently shifted to Calgary. The house that I have taken on rent is an old one, which has started showing signs aging and wear and tear. I wanted to redesign the house and added a charm to it, but did not want to spend a lot either. I went through many home decor magazines (Architectural Digest, Better Homes and Gardens, Elle Decor, House Beautiful and many others) and surfed online in search of some reasonable ideas of redesigning a house. Thankfully, I came across some of the simple amazing ways to redesign a house. They proved to be extremely useful, making my house look dashing and appealing. If you want to know about these tips, then continue reading the article.

Clear the clutter: The initial step of redesigning a house should be cleaning the clutter and removing all unnecessary items. I gathered all the items in my house and divided them into two categories on the its importance. I secluded all the important goods into one part and all unnecessary and unimportant goods into another part. Then arranged for a trash bag and threw all the trivial goods to it. If you want, you can sell them online or give to a charity.

Home accessories: One of the most fascinating ways to redesign a house that I came acroos in a home magazine (House Beautiful) is replacing some old and outdated home accessories with new ones. For example, replace old and shabby switchplates covers with  new ones. This will hardly hurt your pocket, but will give a fresh look to the house. A new, clean white cover will certainly look much nicer than old, yellowing cover. For  adding extra oomph to your house, you can choose sleek and stylish switchplates covers made out of stainless steel. You can also append some inexpensive finishing touches by changing doorknobs, handles, and hinges. This might sound inane, but can indeed make a huge difference in appearance of your house.

Flooring: When it comes to redesigning your house, flooring should be one of the most important aspects. There is a myriad of flooring options, when it comes to residential flooring such as marble flooring, laminate tile, hardwood flooring, carpet flooring and many others. While hardwood flooring will make your house look cozy and elegant, laminate tile flooring will make it look chic and stylish. If you reside in Calgary, then you will find a wide range of styles, designs, and patterns of laminate flooring in Calgary. However, since I wanted to incorporate a combination of luxury and comforts, I chose carpet tile flooring.

Add colors: One of the most obvious ways of redesigning a house is painting the walls. I wanted to make the house look bright and natural, so, I chose a lighter shade of color – beige. However, if you want to make your house look vibrant and stylish, then chose some darker shades of colors like red, yellow, blue, green and purple. These will make your house look cozy and warm as well.

Give attention to minor detail: Remember that lighting can make or break your house. So, incorporate some nice lighting fixtures to redesign the house and enhance the decoration of its every nook and corner.  Some of the exclusive lighting ideas for your house would be moravian star ligts, moroccan lantern, floral chandeliers, glass drop chandeliers and many others. Also, include high-end designer blinds and curtains in the winows to boost the aesthetic appearance of the house.

Hence, these are some of the great redesigning ideas that you may consider when redesign your house.
